EDDIE Howe described as “delicate” the foot injury sustained by summer signing Arnaut Danjuma but insisted: “We are hoping he is not going to be out for long.”

The Dutch international, signed from Club Brugge for £13.7million earlier this month, picked up the problem during Cherries’ pre-season friendly against Lyon at Vitality Stadium.

He has missed Cherries’ opening two Premier League fixtures against Sheffield United and Aston Villa and is not expected to feature against Manchester City on Sunday (2pm).

The Sun today reported Danjuma had been expected to be out until the start of October.

Giving an update on the former PSV youngster, Howe told the Daily Echo: “It’s such a delicate injury.

“We are hoping he is not going to be out for long but it’s still slightly unclear as to – not necessarily what the injury is – but what the treatment plan will be.

“We will give you an update when we get it.”
