BOSS Paul Groves has confirmed he is close to bolstering his backroom team as he looks to bring a fresh approach to coaching and fitness.

The Cherries manager says he is aiming to “change the dynamics” of his staff, with assistant boss Shaun Brooks telling the Cherries club website that the appointments could be revealed next week.

Reserve team manager/defensive coach Ryan Garry and sports scientist Louis Langdown were both axed following Groves’s unveiling as permanent boss at Dean Court.

Groves told the Daily Echo earlier this week: “We are getting down the line with a couple of personnel but we are not there yet.

“We are getting there and are not too far away on a couple of the appointments.

“We want people who bring new ideas to the table and people that we know have worked at certain places that have been successful and follow a certain way of doing things.

“We have to look at the personnel, where they have been, what they have done, their level of experience and the people they have worked with.

“Mainly, it is about new faces, new ideas and changing the dynamics of the staff.”

Goalkeeping coach Neil Moss, long-serving physio Steve Hard and sports therapist Dave Gardner were all retained by Groves.

The future of Lee Bradbury’s assistant manager Russ Wilcox remains unclear. He was placed on gardening leave at the time of Bradbury’s departure.

Meanwhile, Groves has confirmed that Cherries have withdrawn from the Football Combination and will instead look to arrange regular reserve team friendlies next season.
