BOURNEMOUTH-based Miles Lee-Hargreaves has secured his place in the British team for a third successive year.

The 16-year-old has been selected for the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Panama next month.

Miles puts his success down to a rigorous winter programme of practice and gym work.

“I have worked really hard and I’m thrilled to be chosen for a third time,” said Miles, who is currently juggling practice with his A Level studies. I’m very keen to better my placing from last year of 25th position which was fantastic.”

Miles has been on the podium many times during his competition years from April to November and is proud to represent Bournemouth.

“All my peers are from Devon and Cornwall, so they are surprised that I have done so well,” added Miles, who is working hard to secure funding to join the British team next month.

The championships in Panama take place from April 14-22.

The squad of 12 need to raise £25,000 to cover the three-week round trip. For further details contact matt@surfinggb.com or Kerry@surfinggb.com
