MATT Ford believes Adrian Miedzinski will emerge stronger from his Monmore Green baptism of fire.

The Pole ran in just paid four points in the Midlands on Monday as Poole Coastal Aluminium claimed a slender two-point Elite Shield lead ahead of tonight’s second leg at Wimborne Road (7.30pm).

It was Miedzinski’s first competitive club meeting on these shores since he lined up for Oxford in 2007 and he was frustratingly behind Wolves top guns Freddie Lindgren and Tai Woffinden.

Brought into Pirates’ one-to-seven on a 5.57 average, the 26-year-old will initially remain with the Dorset club until the end of May, with Ford predicting some heavy scoring from the rider dubbed ‘Wild Thing’.

Ford told the Echo: “Adrian said his engine was very strong and, sometimes, with such a strong engine, it can be difficult to get a set-up right.

“It’s something he will put right and I always say not to judge riders on the first few matches as they are still trying things out and getting the bikes dialled in correctly.

“He was on the pace, but he is riding at number five as well so his final race was against Freddie Lindgren and Tai Woffinden.

“They are track experts at Monmore Green and, at this point in time, people should wait until Adrian settles in. Then they will see a guy going out and scoring decent points.

“For a rider who scores so heavily on the continent, the job for me is keeping his head up. The pressure here is not as it is in Poland so he just needs to relax and enjoy it because he will get the set-up and start scoring points.”

Wolves’ Pontus Aspgren (1+1) and Lukasz Sowka (0) both struggled on Monday and now face the daunting task of trying to work out the quickest way around Wimborne Road having never before raced the track.

Ford added: “People shouldn’t read too much into Wolves’ performance on Monday. It was their first competitive outing as a team and it’s all too easy to jump to conclusions about those two riders.

“Fans want immediate success, but that doesn’t always happen and I know when we go back to Wolverhampton in April, if they have the same seven, it will be because Lukasz and Pontus are riding themselves into form.”

Poole: 1 Chris Holder, 2 Sam Masters, 3 Darcy Ward, 4 Dennis Andersson, 5 Adrian Miedzinski, 6 Ricky Kling, 7 Todd Kurtz.

Wolves: 1 Freddie Lindgren, 2 Pontus Aspgren, 3 Nicolai Klindt, 4 Ty Proctor, 5 Tai Woffinden, 6 Lukasz Sowka, 7 Ricky Wells.
