BOSS Graham Kemp guided Christchurch into the Wessex League Cup semi-finals and then insisted they had a genuine chance of claiming the silverware.

Priory booked their place in the last four when they secured a 3-1 victory over Romsey Town at Hurn Bridge on Tuesday night.

Trailing to an early penalty from Romsey’s Shane Flooks, Christchurch were grateful to debutant goalkeeper Joe Prodomo for a fine first-half display.

Signed on a dual registration basis from Bashley, Prodomo kept the hosts in the contest before James Burden equalised late in the first half.

After the interval, Mark Smith fired Christ-church into the lead with a penalty after Tom Jeffes had won the spot kick. Jeffes, getting valuable game-time on dual registration from Wimborne Town, then struck to complete an impressive comeback.

Christchurch manager Kemp told the Daily Echo: “It is a cup with no teams from a higher standard than ours, so we have a realistic chance of progressing.

“This chance has come after five or six years of hard work since I have been here, so I told the players not to let it slip and to give it our best.”
