Cherries boss Lee Bradbury has been forced to put on hold a move to re-sign Josh McQuoid from Millwall, claim sources in south London.

Reports suggested Bradbury had been hoping to bring the 22-year-old frontman to the Seward Stadium on loan from the Championship club.

It is understood the deal hinged on whether Millwall could bolster their attacking resources with the addition of Barnsley hitman Danny Haynes.

However, Lions boss Kenny Jackett’s attempts to sign Haynes appear to have diminished with the striker last night set for a move to Charlton.

McQuoid joined Millwall from Cherries on loan in November 2010, the deal eventually made permanent for a fee of around £500,000 a year ago.

He was snapped up by Jackett following an explosive 14-week spell that saw him plunder 12 goals in just 16 starts and earn his first full cap for Northern Ireland.

However, since moving to the Den, Lymington-raised McQuoid has been restricted to just 12 appearances, his cause not helped by injury.

Cherries boss Bradbury has been looking to boost his firepower options ever since the transfer window reopened at the start of this month.

Although Bradbury was understood to have been on the trail of a striker at a Championship club – a player whose identity was kept under wraps – it is believed he may have cooled his interest.

Bradbury’s pursuit of the mystery man was again understood to have been dependant on his club sourcing a replacement, while the player concerned is believed to have picked up a minor injury.
