BOSS Lee Bradbury has revealed Jayden Stockley is keen to force his way into Cherries’ plans after returning from a productive loan spell.

The young striker has spent the past two months gaining valuable first-team experience with Accrington Stanley.

Stockley made six starts and four substitute appearances during his stint with the Lancashire outfit – which came to an end following Friday night’s 2-0 League Two win at Burton Albion.

The teenager netted three goals and contributed two assists as he furthered his development at the Crown Ground.

Bradbury says the homegrown talent feels ready to return and is keen to battle with the likes of current preferred pairing Wes Thomas and Michael Symes for a place in Cherries’ play-off-chasing team.

Manager Bradbury told the Daily Echo: “He has done two months up there and feels he has sharpened himself up.

“He wants to come back and train with us and see where we go.

“He scored three goals in six starts and I think he has got out of it what he wanted.

“He wanted to go up there and get match fitness, some sharpness and some goals, and then come back and try to fight for a place here, so I think it is great.”

Handed his Cherries debut as a 16-year-old schoolboy in October 2009, the Poole-born frontman was given a five-year contract shortly after, amid rumoured interest from higher-level clubs.

He was fast-tracked into Cherries’ senior set-up by then-manager Eddie Howe but has since found his first-team opportunities limited.

Stockley opened his Cherries goals account with a double in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory over Hereford United earlier this season.

But he has been restricted to eight substitute appearances for Cherries this term, having made one start and seven appearances from the bench in the previous two campaigns.

Discussing Stockley, Bradbury added: “It was great he was hungry to go and play games in the festive period, away from his family.

“It was great that he wanted to go and play and I think it speaks volumes that he wanted to do that.

“He wanted to go and play no matter what it took. For me, that just shows a great hunger.”
