TASKMASTER Roshan Embalagama skippered Parley to a crushing eight-wicket win over Suttoners and then expressed his disappointment at their failure to collect maximum points.

Despite enjoying a cakewalk at Dean Park, Parley were left to count the cost as they could only manage to claim seven wickets as Suttoners laboured to 170.

Mitch Baker and Tom ‘TJ’ Jacques then both hit quickfire 50s as Parley romped home off the first ball of the 26th over for the loss of just two wickets.

New captain Embalagama is hoping to lead Parley to a hat-trick of Dorset League titles after replacing successful skipper Neil Summerson.

The 33-year-old told the Daily Echo: “I was a little disappointed because we didn’t get a couple more wickets and 20 points. Every point is going to be vital. We restricted them to 60 from the first 20 overs but couldn’t get them all out.”

Although Paul Harding (43), Chris Rawlings (41) and Neil Corbin (25) all made starts, Suttoners found the going tough as Parley bowled a tight line.

Harding put on 61 for the second wicket with Ashley Wallace before Corbin and Rawlings shared 60 for the fifth wicket.

Tom Barber (3-48) sent down a couple of lively spells, while Raj Naik (2-36), Matt Strickland (1-24) and Sam Thomson (1-28) all bowled economically.

Parley made light work of their reply with Baker (59) hitting nine fours and a six and Jacques (53) nine fours as Suttoners were given the runaround.

Poole Town trimmed Parley’s lead to two points following a six-wicket win over Weymouth.

Masoor Khan (3-7), Kristian Wilson (2-29) and Andy Groome (2-35) helped restrict the Seasiders to 196 for nine. In reply, Khan (50), Badrul Alam (42*), Richard Armstrong (36) and Wilson (27*) saw Poole Town home at 196 for four.

• Dean Elsworthy starred with bat and ball as Ferndown Wayfarers registered a 21-run victory over Broadstone.

Elsworthy (65) received solid support from James Raftery (42) as Ferndown Wayfarers totalled 216 (Matt Thomas 5-79). And although Matt Jones (43), Sam Chapman (39) and Thomas (31) all made starts, Elsworthy (4-40) helped dismiss them for 195.

• Skipper Andy Hayward heaped praise on his Wimborne & Colehill troops following their potentially-crucial 52-run win over fellow strugglers Blandford.

Hayward said: “It was a very good team performance and everyone contributed. The players deserve credit for performing in the manner they did, particularly after several close defeats this season.

Colin Randall (58), Hayward (40) and Ben Ratcliffe (39) were instrumental with the bat as Wimborne & Colehill posted 256 (Lewis Mutton 5-48).

And although Dan Brockway (93) remained undefeated, Gav Will (3-31), Rob Hatchard (3-41) and Tom Heyes (2-30) ensured Blandford fell short at 204.

• Stalbridge (160) suffered a narrow one-wicket defeat at the hands of Dorchester (161-9).
