BOSS Steve Cuss expressed his delight at adding Nathan Lynch to his new-look squad after swooping to fill the void left by Wimborne Town’s triple attacking departure.

Cuss yesterday confirmed the capture of the former Winchester City and Gosport Borough frontman, who also has Conference South experience from his time with Bognor Regis.

Cuss told the Daily Echo: “He is a big, strong centre forward. He likes a battle, holds up the ball well and will be a good link player for what we are trying to do.

“He has got an eye for goal and he is a strong lad who will give us a bit of a target up front.”

Lynch’s arrival came as a timely boost after Cuss revealed that Lee Chudy had become the third proven frontman to leave Cuthbury this summer by opting to join Southern League rivals Gosport Borough.

Chudy’s decision to quit Magpies followed the exit of star duo Scott Joyce and James Stokoe to Poole Town and Bashley respectively.

But Cuss, who has now brought in nine new recruits since taking over from Alex Browne in April, insists Wimborne will have the right blend of youth and experience to do battle in Evo-Stik Division One South & West.

Four of Wimborne’s existing squad have committed themselves to stay – player-assistant boss Paul Roast, Jamie Davidson, Jordan Cole and Tom Hunt.

And Cuss, who is still on the look-out for a centre-half and central midfielder, had already bolstered his resources with some impressive signings including highly-rated keeper Jason Harvell, utility man Scott Arnold and former Cherries trainees George Webb and Matt Kemble.

Ryan Murray, who can play in defence or midfield, last week joined Magpies from Bashley.

Cuss’s other summer signings have been goalkeeper Dan Ackerman, defender Matt Dear and forward Max Cream.
