PIRATES’ Elite League hopes have been dealt an early blow with the news that Darcy Ward will miss the start of the season following a motocross crash.
Poole will look for a replacement after confirming the Aussie ace sustained a broken wrist and shoulder in the accident.
The incident occurred when Ward, together with team-mates Chris Holder and Davey Watt, took part in some pre-season training.
Ward’s injury has forced Poole to search for a stand-in at extremely short notice, with Pirates’ first competitive action of the campaign coming on Sunday at Eastbourne (5pm).
