TOM Dillon believes it will be a black day for the Twin Counties if Oakmeadians emulate Wimborne and lose their fight for South West One East survival.

Relegation to Southern Counties South was confirmed for the All Blacks when they lost 64-5 at Witney, despite Scott Ansell’s consolation try.

Oaks are staring the drop in the face after they were battered 34-11 by Swanage & Wareham at Bestwall.

Swans manager Dillon said: “It will be a shame if Oaks also go down because it’s good having them alongside us in our division.

“It means more local derbies which attract bigger crowds and generate more local interest.

“Wimborne haven’t got the biggest of squads and have also been hit hard by a lot of injuries.

“If they hadn’t been hampered in that way they might well have been in a much better position.

“Oaks have also suffered injuries but didn’t really put up much fight against us.

“If they go down, perhaps it won’t be a bad thing because they could look to rebuild in Southern Counties South and the same goes for Wimborne.

“As for us, we’re just seeing out the season in mid-table and giving a few youngsters a chance because we’re not going up or down.”

Robert Elford (two), Darren Wilcox, James Maginn, Charlie Rowberry and Glynn Alner grabbed tries for Swans against Oaks, with Phil Graves adding three conversions.

Oaks responded with two Ryan Anthoney penalties and a last-gasp touchdown from Jack Secher.
