PRIORY boss Graham Kemp says he won’t be sorry to see Hayling drop out of the Wessex Premier if they are relegated.

Kemp’s Christchurch side triumphed 1-0 at Church Road on Tuesday with a second-half strike from substitute Joseph Kittle.

And the boss said he was relieved his top-seven outfit returned home with all three points after claiming basement boys Hayling “had the worst pitch in the league by a country mile".

Kemp added: “There were hardly any supporters, no atmosphere and when the ball was kicked out of play it took ages to get it back because the pitch is in the middle of nowhere.

“Having said that, we adapted well to the surroundings and got a 1-0 win out of it. That’s three wins on the trot and five games undefeated for us. We have turned the corner a bit, I think.”

Priory: Kearn, Grace, Legg, Crutchley, Dand, Brian, M Smith, Fairbrother, Osborne, Griffin (Kittle 60), Burden. Unused subs: Roberts, Rideout, Burt, C Smith.

Hamworthy United kept up their pursuit of a top-five finish with a comfortable 4-2 victory at Brockenhurst.

Simon Browne’s side trailed 1-0 at the break, but Luke Burbidge, Max Crow, George Webb and Dave Ewen fired them 4-1 in front before relegation-threatened Brock got a late consolation.

Hammers: Ackerman, Oldring, Horlock, Haysom, Jackson, Webb, Robinson, Crow, Spencer (Magookin 65) Ewen, Burbidge. Unused subs: White, Lillington.

• Poppies remain on course to emulate, or even better, their fine fourth-placed finish of last season with an impressive 3-0 win at fellow high-riders Brading.

Luke Pickett, Jake Rowley and Jon Blake, with a 25-yard thunderbolt, were Poppies’ scorers on a night when Tom Green made his first start for them and bagged the man-of-the-match honours.

Poppies: Harvell, Arnold, Crutcher, Byrne, Taylor, Phillipson-Masters (Hodgson 60), Blake, Rowley, Pickett (Wyatt 70), Kemble, Green. Unused subs: Vaughan, Rudd.

• Nick Howes kept cool to convert an 88th-minute spot kick to give Ringwood a 2-1 home win over Verwood in a Division One derby.

John Webb fired Verwood in front just before half time at the Canotec Stadium but Dan Marks equalised midway through the second period.

Ringwood: Page, Old, Clark, Hetherington, Pierson, Yeats, Marks, Howes, Chalk (Payne 55), Fleet (Chattey 68), Leadbetter. Unused subs: Elson, Manning, Midson.

Verwood: Tong, Elysee, Delaney, Lynch, Dear, Webb, Dyer, Edwards, Saxby, Aspin (Gajic 60), Haskell. Unused subs: Lanahan, Murray.
