JASON Harvell has turned his back on a possible move to Wimborne Town and pledged his loyalty to Bournemouth Poppies.

The highly rated goalkeeper was last week the subject of an official approach from the Southern League strugglers.

Cuthbury chief Alex Browne made a move for the ex-Cherries trainee in an attempt to bolster his squad and help continue Magpies’ Division One South and West mini-revival.

But Harvell, who kept his 69th clean sheet for Poppies in their 3-0 win over Blackfield and Langley on Saturday, has committed himself to the Victoria Park club until at least the end of the current season.

Harvell told the Echo: “I have decided to see out the season with Poppies and review the situation at the end of the season.

“They took me back when I decided to leave Totton at the start of the season. They put me straight back into the team and I felt I owed them something and decided to stay.”

Wimborne will be aiming to make it three wins in a row when they entertain play-off hopefuls Hungerford Town at Cuthbury tonight (7.45pm).

Gareth Barnes faces a late fitness test, while James Stokoe starts a two-match suspension. Captain Paul Roast returns.
