DARREN Powell feels Jakub Malara has shown he possesses the ability to become Wimborne’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Malara, who arrived at Cuthbury from Poole Borough, has covered for an ill Alan Walker-Harris in Magpies’ past two games.
And the Pole’s displays have drawn praise from Powell, despite the struggling Dorset outfit losing 2-1 against Bridgwater and 3-2 at Gosport Borough in Zamaretto One South & West.
Powell, Wimborne’s assistant manager, said: “Jakub showed he was capable of pushing Alan all the way for the number one jersey.
“Jakub has shown he can be relied on to step in and do a job and if he keeps on doing what he did against Bridgwater and Gosport, he could keep Alan out.”
Malara and Walker-Harris have both been included in Wimborne’s squad for their trip to Bishops Cleeve tomorrow (3pm), but striker Tom Hunt is unavailable.
Powell said Magpies boss Alex Browne was intending to hold talks with Weymouth frontman Warren Byerley and Poppies defender Jordan Cole this week.
