BOSS Tom Killick has revealed his interest in Tom Jeffes as he attempts to bolster Poole Town’s attacking resources.

Killick has lodged a seven-day notice of approach for the Bournemouth Poppies frontman and plans to hold talks with the transfer target this week.

The Dolphins chief is an admirer of the talented striker and wants to boost his options as his team strive to retain their Wessex League crown and earn promotion, as well as continue their bid for FA Vase glory.

Jeffes is a proven performer at step five level, having hit seven goals in 15 Premier Division starts this term to follow his tally of 18 for Christchurch last time round.

The 24-year-old also enjoyed a productive campaign in 2007-08, finding the net 18 times in 32 starts for Poppies before playing for both Brockenhurst and Hamworthy United during the next year.

“I’ll be speaking to him this week,” confirmed Killick.

“He’s a good goalscorer and has got a good record. He links play quite well and is quite industrious. I think he’s a good all-round forward.”

With Russell Cook sidelined by a serious ankle injury, Killick has seen his available frontmen cut to three in the shape of Stuart Douglas, Steve Smith and Dan Cann.

He added: “At the moment, we’ve only got three forwards and I normally like to have four.

“And out of the three I have got, Dan Cann is someone who sometimes plays in different positions.”
