CHRIS Reeves has confirmed Poole Town’s application for promotion to the Southern League has already been lodged with the Football Association.

But Dolphins’ vice-chairman insists the Wessex League title favourites are not being “disrespectful to other clubs” over the promptness of their application.

He believes the ambitious Dorset outfit are just being organised as they try to get everything into place so they can play at a higher level if they qualify to go up in May.

Rival Sydenhams Premier Divison clubs may feel Poole are being presumptuous about their prospects of clinching the crown for a third successive season, es-pecially with almost five months of the campaign still to go.

But Reeves said: “We’ve applied for promotion on the basis we’ll have a ground share.

“There isn’t a concrete deadline for a ground share to be put in place, but by the time the decision about promotion is taken in May everything has to be solidly in position at our end.”

Reeves, whose has seen Wimborne and Hamworthy United turn down Poole proposals to ground share this month, added: “We’re continuing to talk to other clubs and are determined to tie up a ground share.

“I’ve also been talking to the FA this week to keep them fully up to date with what we’re doing.

“What they’ve told me is the earlier we have a ground share in place, the better chance we have of them accepting it. If we won the league and already had a ground share in place, it would be looked on more favourably than if we’re still trying to fix up one.”

Poole beat Sherborne 2-1 away in their Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final on Wednesday courtesy of goals from Jacob Harrop and Steve Smith.

Dolphins have Taffy Richard-son, Marcus Browning and possibly Will Spetch back for their home Premier Division clash against Brading tomorrow (3pm), but Carl Poore is unavailable.
