TOM Killick insists he will not sacrifice Poole Town’s chances of cup glory despite fears of a fixture pile-up.

Dolphins visit Sherborne in a Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final clash tonight (7.45pm).

And Killick will resist lining up with a weakened side after prioritising Sydenhams Wessex League title success as his main target this term.

The ambitious Tatnam outfit’s secondary aim is to taste FA Vase glory.

Riding high just three points behind Premier Division leaders Winchester City, promotion-chasing Dolphins are also still in the Wessex League Cup.

Killick, who has added youngsters Paul Best and Jacob Harrop to his squad for tonight’s tie, said: “We have 26 league games and a minimum of three cup matches to play.

“But there are only 19 weeks between now and the end of the season and one is over the Christmas period. That’s not allowing for inclement weather.

“We’re five games behind Winchester City in the league and we’ve certainly been the victims of our FA Cup run to the fourth qualifying round.”

Killick, a big fan of the county cup, added: “I still want to do as well as we can in all the knockout competitions though.

“I’m not going to start sacrificing any cup competition. That’s not our style.

“It’ll be a test to get all those games in between now and the end of the season, but it’s better to be in this position than have nothing to play for.

“Hopefully, if the weather is good to us, it will be manageable.”
