VERWOOD boss Adie Arnold could pitch new signing Dave Wrixton straight into his team for their FA Vase third round home clash against Torpoint Athletic tomorrow (3pm).

The 25-year-old midfielder cracked 10 goals in 65 appearances for Poppies before leaving for Potterne Park this week.

Wrixton was on Dorchester Town’s books before moving to Victoria Park in August 2008.

Tomorrow’s game is the biggest in Verwood’s history and Arnold said: “Dave’s eligible to play.

“He’s an experienced Wessex Premier player who will be able to bring us some of that experience. Dave scores goals and although I didn’t look to bring him in, he wanted to join us.

“So I snapped his hand off when he made it clear he wanted to play for Verwood.”

Torpoint arrive in Dorset riding high in fifth in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division. They beat Royal Marines 5-1 in their last game, with striker Adam Carter grabbing a hat-trick.

Fans are reminded to log on to the club’s website www.vtfc.co.uk for up-to-date information on whether the game will go ahead.

Riley’s side haven’t played for 11 days so Mark Gamble (ankle), Mike Spinney (knee), Jack Smith (calf), Ian Oliver (Achilles) and Joe Collins (calf) have taken the chance to get back to full fitness.

The quintet are all included in Bashley’s squad for their home Zamaretto Premier encounter against Cirencester tomorrow.
