POOLE Town have opted to play their eagerly-anticipated FA Cup tie against Bashley at their Tatnam home.

Dolphins vice-chairman Chris Reeves revealed that he contacted AFC Bournemouth about the possibility of hosting the derby clash at Dean Court.

He reported that Cherries were “more than willing to co-operate” but that the reigning Wessex League champions had decided to retain their home advantage as they seek a lucrative victory against Southern Premier outfit Bash.

“We felt we shouldn’t give up any advantage we have got by playing at Tatnam,” he said.

“We canvassed it with some of our senior players, who were all on the same lines.

“The response from our supporters has made it clear that, had we switched, it would not have been a popular decision.”

Poole will entertain Bash a week today, with a place in the next round and £7,500 prize money awaiting the victors.

Dolphins previously played at Dean Court after they had been ejected from Poole Stadium in 1994.
