BASHLEY ended their winless run – in emphatic style – with a 4-1 demolition of Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium yesterday.

Boss Steve Riley’s pre-match confidence that his side would soon open their Southern League account for the season was proved correct as the New Foresters ran riot in Dorset.

Searching for their first victory of the Premier Division campaign, Bash got off to an ideal start when Joe Maxwell put them in front after just six minutes.

Pierre Joseph-Dubois levelled shortly after for the hosts, but Bash soon regained control thanks to a Shane White own goal and an Ian Oliver effort eight minutes before the interval.

Ex-Cherries youngster Tom Hill netted 10 minutes from time to complete a fine afternoon’s work for the Recreation Ground outfit.

Bash: Elm, Smith, Oliver, Middleton, Whitley, Knowles, Hill, P Roberts (Murray, 90), Maxwell (T Roberts, 79), Gamble, Ferrett. Unused subs: Mead, Byrne, Prodomo.

Wimborne Town’s slow start to life in the Southern League continued as they were hammered 5-2 at AFC Totton – despite taking an early lead.

Lee Chudy struck from the penalty spot on nine minutes, but three quickfire goals – two from Stefan Brown and one from Warren Kenna – put the hosts in charge at the interval.

Jonathan Davies made it 4-1 on 53 minutes before former Cherries trainee Jamie Davidson pulled a goal back for Alex Browne’s Magpies.

But Totton had the final say when Ian Richardson rounded off the scoring 16 minutes from time to leave Wimborne still searching for a Division One South and West win.

Magpies: Hutchings, Wilson, Lockyer, Roast, Curtis, Lloyd (Mullins), Green, Stokoe, Barnes (Davidson), Chudy, McCormick (James). Unused subs: Whitcher, Yelland.
