PARLEY held off the challenge of Poole Town to retain the Dorset League title.

Leaders for much of the campaign, the championship favourites sealed the Premier Division silverware with a resounding 82-run victory over Weymouth.

Despite second-placed Poole completing their fixtures by comfortably defeating Broadstone, Parley did enough to ensure a successful finale to their campaign.

Raj Naik was again one of the star performers for the champions, as he scored 71 as Parley made 179 all out batting first at Redlands.

And the struggling Seasiders never looked like ruining the Parley party as Naik (2-15) helped skittle the hosts for just 97.

Poole’s final victory of the season came with a handsome seven-wicket margin over Broadstone.

Batting first, Broadstone made 151 for seven (Sam Chapman 30, Alex Gasper 25 and Pete Russell 22*, Kristian Wilson 3-34) In reply, an opening partnership of 110 between Ciaran Quinn (67) and Steve Wilson (36) laid the foundations for a straightforward run-chase, which was completed despite the efforts of Simon Goldshack (3-17).

• Andy Hayward bagged five wickets as Wimborne and Colehill beat Blandford by 34 runs.

Wimborne posted 181, thanks mainly to the efforts of Dave Guest (59) and Rob Hatchard (33), while Aaron Day claimed impressive figures of three for 28.

Opening batsman Luke Carter top scored with 42 for Blandford but they were dismissed for 147 as Hayward (5-35) and Hatchard (3-18) found form.

• Struggling Ferndown Wayfarers will face a play-off against Division One runners-up Bournemouth for the right to retain their top-flight place after finishing second bottom following a heavy 110-run defeat at the hands of Stalbridge.
