BASHLEY boss Steve Riley is backing Dominic Allen to prove himself in the Southern League after securing the striker’s services.
Riley, who needs someone to fill Dave Allen’s boots after the star player left the Recreation Ground, has drafted in the former New Milton Town frontman.
And he is keen to hand him a chance to shine ahead of the Premier Division campaign.
Riley said: “I’ve been impressed with him in pre-season and he wants to play at the highest level he can. He’s going to have the opportunity. He wants to step up a level and, from what I’ve seen, he’s a nice lad, great to work with and I’m sure he’ll do well.
“From what I’ve seen, he can make the step up.”
Bash also look set to lose another of their key men from last term, with Charlie Knight spending pre-season with Conference South outfit Dorchester Town.
But Riley believes he has found an ideal left-wing successor in former Eastleigh player Ian Oliver.
“I’ve replaced him with Ian Oliver, which I’m really pleased about,” he added. “He’s a proven left-sided player and he’s looked really comfortable in pre-season, so that’s good news.”
Riley confirmed he was planning to hold talks with other possible new additions this week.
