SOUTHERN Premier League strugglers Lymington have bolstered their resources with the addition of Hampshire’s David Griffiths.

The 24-year-old, who hails from Newport on the Isle of Wight, is due to make his debut in Lymington’s Division One clash with St Cross Symondians tomorrow.

Paceman Griffiths came through Hampshire’s Academy but his progress has been checked by a persistent back injury. He missed the entire 2005 season due to a stress fracture.

Griffiths started this season in the Hampshire first team and appeared in a number of their early-campaign County Championship and Clydesdale Bank 40 clashes.

He claimed the prize scalp of Marcus Trescothick during their Division One showdown with Somerset in May, one of four wickets he took in the contest.

Griffiths was the leading wicket-taker in the second XI championship in 2007 and was part of the England under-19 side which beat Bangladesh in 2004 and toured India in 2005.

Predominately a right-arm fast bowler, he also bats left handed and will add much-needed experience to a Lymington side which is marooned at the foot of the table.
