POOLE Town boss Tom Killick completed the signing of Josh Thomas and then boasted: “He’s going to be exceptional.”

Killick has swooped to bring in the former Wimborne Town defender, who joins the Wessex League champions from Southern League outfit Gosport Borough.

And Killick believes Thomas will prove to be one of the top players in the Premier Division.

He told the Echo: “He’s someone I’ve known for a long time – he was at Salisbury when I was there about seven years ago.

“He’s got a job in Bournemouth so, although Gosport were keen to retain him, he’s decided it suits him better to come to us.

“It’s a bit of a coup for us to get him.”

Killick added: “He’s a very, very good player. He’s probably about 6ft 2in, strong in the air and very comfortable on the ball. He also scores a few goals from set plays.

“He’s proven at Southern League level, so as a Wessex League player I think he’s going to be exceptional.”

• Christchurch boss Graham Kemp has confirmed he will run the rule over two potential signings when his team begin pre-season training tonight.

Brockenhurst’s Dave Ewen will link up with Priory with a view to joining ahead of the Wessex League campaign, as will West Moors player Mike Haskell.
