WITH the top three A Division teams all in winning mode, West Moors benefitted most by collecting all six points at Iford Bridge.

Olive Freeman’s rink (19-18), undermined the Bridge foundations as Anne McIntyre, June Simmons, Judith Miles and Janet Price (26-18) finished the job for the Moors.

Lymington dropped to third despite their 4-2 (35-34) home win over New Milton. Once again Patsy Little, Sandy Naillard, Wendy Brown and Kay Richardson (24-13) took star billing for the Lymos, doing just enough to cover New Milton’s winning rink (21-11).

Ferndown looked set for four points after Barbara Brown’s rink notched up a 33-18 win at Richmond Park. But a strong performance from Richmond’s Sue Dillon, Jean Revell, Linda Johnson and Jill Bryant (27-10) ensured a 45-43 win for the hosts.

Swanmore recorded their first victory with a 4-2 win over reigning champions Southbourne. Swans’ winning combination of Julie Hudson, Mary Jones, Gill Head and Jenny Osborne (30-12) comfortably covered the hosts’ winning skip Sue Dadson (23-12).

B DIVISION

Braeside found Wimborne in top form after both rinks triumphed to give the Minster girls a 6-0 (39-32) win.

Kings Park fared no better, losing on both rinks to visitors Pelhams. Mary Watts, Maureen Barrett, Janet Fish and Beth Roberts (20-15) set up the win and a last-end measure saw Val Charig’s rink (17-16) tie up the six points.

Highcliffe shared rinks with hosts West Moors, whose skip Mavis Riddington held on for a 16-15 win, only to see Jenny Wilson, Pat Jolley, Thelma Richardson and Valerie Snook (25-17) capture four points for Highcliffe.

Argyll skip Norma Ritchens finished 18-18 to gather Argyll’s first point of the season. Visitors Brockenhurst collected the rest in their 5-1 win.

C DIVISION

Southbourne’s good form continued with a double rink success at Braeside. Edie Brophy, Sheila York, Jean Howell and Tina Sikes (21-10), allied to Jill Goodright’s squad (20-19), showed no fear of the Magic Carpet.

Fordingbridge retained their unbeaten record by repelling visitors Broadstone on both rinks.

Fordingbridge skips Jenny Alder (21-17) and Chris Carter (19-15) shared the honours in the Turks’ 40-32 triumph.

Milford-on-Sea skip Diana Goodyear scored a last-end shot to tie with Branksome’s Irene Button 19-19. Margaret Jeakings’s rink of Judy Spooner, Merle Youngman and Carole Tearle (21-14) then secured a 5-1 win for the Seasiders.

Bournemouth also registered a 5-1 (37-29) success over Verwood. Joan Belcher held on to an 18-18 tie after Lyn Elder, Brenda Halliday, Joan Cox and Kris Saunders had given the Belles a 19-11 boost.

D DIVISION

Alexandra Park retained their 100 per cent record by winning 6-0 at Swanmore. Gill Fagg’s rink of Jenny Cutler, Gina Mcgregor and Jenny Chalk made their mark for Alex (22-11). Deidre Owen’s quartet completed the 43-28 win.

Pelhams I drew 3-3 with bottom club Highcliffe thanks to winning Castle Maidens skip Jane Wilks (19-14). Highcliffe skip Rosemary Shepherd, despite losing to Pelhams skip Jean Perry (21-16), won the last two ends to tie the match 35-35.

Anne Wilson, Beryl Webster, Margaret Crisp and Ann Gill (27-10) looked to have set up Christchurch for a 6-0 win at Poole Park, but Dolphins skip Nancy Bennett (21-19) saved two points by collecting four shots on the last end.

Pelhams II slipped into the drop zone following their 4-2 loss to Richmond Park. Pelhams’ winning skip Mollie Lindsay’s score of 19-14 was covered by Richmond skip Trish Gray (23-15).

Argyll’s first victory came at New Milton thanks to Jill Brookes, Joan Hancock, Doris Gedge and Emmie Drinkwater (25-7), who accounted for New Milton’s winning rink (23-12).

E DIVISION

Broadstone pulled away from the pack following their 6-0 success over visitors Kings Park. A 25-10 humdinger from Maureen Riggs, Joan Shaw, Cath Webb and Sally Rowe was bolstered by Vicki Miller’s crew (23-16).

Braeside I cleaned up with a 6-0 (68-18) blitz over Moordown. Sue Getting, Eileen Olding, Pam Coventry and Pauline Crocker bombed in with an impressive 38-5 win, with support coming from Janet Young’s rink 30-13.

Braeside II did not fare so well, returning from New Milton with just two points after the hosts’ winning quartet posted a total of 30-9, which covered Braeside’s successful skip Margaret Steel (27-17) Iford Bridge collected a 4-2 win at Ferndown with Linda Savage’s rink (19-16) outscoring the Stags’ skip Anne Wrighton (18-16).

F DIVISION

There’s no change at the top, after Southbourne took all six points from bottom club West Moors (42-19). Honours were shared between Southbourne skips Yvonne Hosking (20-8) and Jan Pardy (22-11).

Shelley Park picked up all six points at Highcliffe. Joan Smith’s squad of Marion Stainer, Barbara Graves and Pam Bolt (22-11) locked out their opponents, with Sylvia Sayer’s rink tidying up for the Shelley ladies (22-19).

Branksome Park comfortably dealt with visitors Redhill Park after Wyn Glockler, Babs Shand, Carol Bryant and Hilary Jenkins (31-16) outscored Redhill’s winning skip Jean Dixon (19-15).

It was a close encounter at Swanmore where Swans’ winning combination of Irene Richman, Carole Feetham, Pauline West and Isobell Barr (22-11) blocked out New Milton’s winning rink (21-12) to give Swanmore a 4-2 victory.

G DIVISION

Table-toppers Milford-on-Sea I took all six points against Wimborne after skip Joan Summersby collected a last-end 17-16 win. The support came from Jill Blakeley, Pat Rathgay and Barbara Newland (24-8).

Milford-on-Sea II lost on both rinks at Moordown. Shirley Herrington, Vi Shevill and Cheryl Webb (27-11) spearheaded Moordown’s attack in a 49-25 win.
