WIMBORNE and Colehill skipper Colin Randall is hoping the return of two senior batsmen will help his stuttering side turn the tide.

They are yet to win in the Premier Division after struggling to make an impression in their opening matches.

Saturday’s six-wicket defeat at the hands of Stalbridge extended to five their winless run, with a tie against Weymouth the only positive on a record that also includes losses to Broadstone, Parley and Poole Town.

But Randall is hoping to bolster the top and middle order with the return of vice-captain Gavin Will and batsman Dave Hills.

Randall said: “It’s a bit worrying, but in a couple of weeks’ time we get a couple of senior middle order players back in.

“One is my vice-captain Gavin Will and having him back will make a big difference, as well as Dave Hills.

“That gives the younger lads confidence and, hopefully, it will be the boost we need.”

Will has been absent since damaging his cruciate ligaments playing football prior to the start of last season, but he is almost ready to return.

At the weekend, Wimborne threw away their decent start with the bat and were all out for 129 in 42 overs, with the match reduced to 43 overs per side.

Randall (33) top-scored, with Chris Blake (19) and Rob Hatchard (18*) chipping in.

In reply, Stalbridge comfortably reached a reduced target of 115 with four overs and six wickets to spare.
