SEAN Walbridge was delighted with Glyn Treagus’s bowling contribution after Lymington’s all-rounder bagged four victims in Dorset’s comfortable seven-wicket win over Bedfordshire.

Walbridge, the south coast outfit’s manager, saw his side return to play at Dorchester for the first time in 14 years by successfully chasing down Beds’ target of 163 for nine in 50 overs.

Treagus grabbed four for 31 but then failed with the bat, notching only three after opening Dorset’s reply with Nick Park.

Park (76 not out) and Aaron Williams (59) then put on a scintillating 150 for the second wicket as Walbridge’s side cruised to 164 for three in 39.1 overs to triumph with 65 balls to spare.

Walbridge, whose charges jumped straight to the top of MCCA Trophy group three, said: “Glyn has stood up with the ball this year, but then again so has the whole bowling unit.

“I’m really pleased for Glyn and his combination with Tom Hicks.

“Their 20 overs of spin cost 70 runs but picked up five wickets, which was a key part of why we won.”

Walbridge, whose side visit Herefordshire at Eastnor on Sunday, added: “Aaron did well last year and faded away, but we have a lot of confidence in his ability.

“If he can do what he did against Beds batting at number three, building a 150-run partnership with Nick, running between the wickets and putting a load of bad deliveries away, we have other hard-hitting players like Darren Cowley, who can come in and finish the job off.

“So I’m really pleased with Aaron, and Nick, who is in his fourth year with Dorset and just gets better every game.”

Hertfordshire, whose game against Dorset was abandoned by rain last month, triumphed at Oxfordshire by few wickets lost.
