AUSSIE ace Chris Holder pledged his future to Pirates and then fired a warning to the club’s rivals by insisting: “We’ll be back bigger and better.”

The talented Sydneysider revealed his hopes for next season’s Elite League campaign after it was confirmed that he would be remaining at Wimborne Road.

Speaking after collecting a clean sweep of awards at the club’s end of season presentation night, Holder vowed: “We’re heading in the right direction. We’ll have a much stronger team, which is going to be good.

“Touch wood we won’t have any of the injuries we had at the start of the year, which messed a lot of things up for us.

“We’ll definitely be back bigger and better next year.”

Pirates endured a terrible season this time round, struggling at the foot of the table for much of a troubled campaign.

But hot prospect Holder revealed that a move elsewhere was never on the cards, despite rumours of a switch to Swindon.

“Poole is a really cool club and it’s run really well,” he said.

“It’s got to be the best team to ride for – definitely. I wouldn’t really want to go anywhere else.

“There’s no other place because this suits me pretty well – the whole place and where it is in England – and it’s on the beach.

“I’m happy here and I wouldn’t need any reason to move away.”

As part of his haul of silverware, Holder scooped the Daily Echo rider-of-the-year trophy for the second consecutive season after polling a massive 81 per cent of the vote.

He added: “It’s a pretty cool trophy to win because the Echo trophy is voted for by all the fans.

“It’s good they still like me!”
