CHERRIES’ out-of-contract sextet Warren Cummings, Ryan Garry, Jeff Goulding, Josh McQuoid, Joe Partington and Ryan Pryce must all wait to discover their respective fates.

Boss Eddie Howe has told the players he would not be in a position to discuss possible re-engagement until after his budget had been determined for next season.

Howe informed the players, whose existing deals expire at the end of June, when he held individual end-of-season debriefs with every member of his squad in the past few days.

Speaking to the Daily Echo last night, Howe, who is also awaiting news of a new contract, said: “I have spoken to all the players concerned and the situation has been explained to them.

“I am awaiting confirmation of my budget for next season before deciding whether I am in a position to offer new contracts and the terms of those contracts.

“Each individual player has to be judged on his merits and I am hoping to speak to them all again in the next couple of weeks.”

Asked whether he was concerned about losing any of the players, Howe replied: “There is always the worry that players will look to other clubs when their contracts are coming up for renewal.

“But I am hoping the players enjoyed the climax to the season and will be eager to remain part of the club’s future, if we are in a position to keep them on.”

Utility man Lee Bradbury will remain at Dean Court for at least another season after triggering an appearance-related contract in his current deal.

And midfielder Sammy Igoe will join him after telling Howe he would be exercising an option to stay for another 12 months, while skipper Shaun Cooper is pondering a similar option.

Meanwhile, Howe has told the Daily Echo he will be hoping to add to his squad once the club’s transfer embargo is lifted.

Possible targets include current loan players Rhoys Wiggins and Joel Ward, while Howe also confirmed his interest in striker Lewis Smith from Fulham and defender Jeffrey Imudia from Southampton, both of whom impressed in reserve games for Cherries recently.

Howe added: “We have identified players who are potential targets and will continue to speak to them and their representatives in the coming weeks.”
