CHERRIES chief executive Alastair Saverimutto has hinted he could quit the club if his deal with potential investors from the Middle East fails to come off.

Saverimutto was speaking after news emerged that former directors Adam Murry, Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly were trying to put together a rescue package to save the ailing club.

Sport-6, owned jointly by Saverimutto and Paul Baker, tonight reached agreement - in principle - to conditionally transfer ownership of the club to the Murry group.

But the deal would only go through on the proviso that Saverimutto's ongoing negotiations with a mystery consortium from the Middle East fail to come to fruition.

Saverimutto told the Daily Echo: "The Middle East deal relies on me committing myself to Bournemouth for three years and can only materialise if I'm prepared to do that. At this stage, I'm not 100 per cent sure whether I want to do that."
