SOUTHAMPTON have “approached” Cherries to discuss a potential deal for Max Aarons, according to Sky Sports.
Cherries saw off interest from Saints and Leeds United last summer to sign the full-back from Norwich City, for £7million, potentially rising to £12m.
Two hamstring injuries hampered Aarons's first campaign on the south coast, a season which saw him make 23 appearances.
Speculation has been growing around the 24-year-old’s future, with Roma also linked.
Sky Sports now claim newly-promoted Saints have approached Cherries in an attempt to sign Aarons.
Russell Martin is on the lookout for a new right-back, in the eventuality Kyle Walker-Peters departs the Hampshire club.
Cherries are reluctant to sell Aarons, who is one of just two senior right-backs in the squad, the other being veteran Adam Smith, who is heading into the last year of his current deal.
