BIG-hitter Darren Cowley insists he has no regrets about leaving Bournemouth and missing out on tomorrow's trip to the Rose Bowl.

The left-handed batsman, whose explosive style lends itself perfectly to the shortest form of the game, now plays for Suttoners, so will take no part in Bournemouth's Southern Electric Twenty20 Cup finals day exploits.

The Dorset star, who stood down as Bournemouth captain at the end of last season, joined Dorset Premier League outfit Suttoners in July for "personal reasons".

And the son of ex-Hampshire player Nigel Cowley is enjoying himself at his new club, so much so that he intends to remain there next term.

"I'm more than likely to be staying there," the former South African under-19 international told the Daily Echo.

Blandford skipper Kev Robbins has already stated his belief that Suttoners will be strong contenders in the top-flight next time round, and Cowley agrees, having sparked a huge upturn in the team's form after joining.

He said: "I think we'll definitely be up there challenging for the title. Hopefully there will be a few more new faces I could influence to join."

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have named a 13-strong squad for tomorrow's eagerly-anticipated finals day.

The Chapel Gate side will probably start as favourites in the first of tomorrow's semi-finals, where they will meet Alton (11.30am).

Alton aren't in the best of form, having been skittled for a dismal 59 by Bashley last weekend, and they only narrowly avoided relegation from the Southern Electric Premier League.Bournemouth skipper Craig de Weymarn can't wait for the action to start.

He said: "We just want to go and perform as well as we can and play as well as we know we can.

"If we get through the semi-final anything can happen."

The winners of the opening semi-final will face the victors of the Portsmouth v Totton and Eling clash (2.45pm).

Bournemouth hit the headlines earlier this month when they reached the finals in dramatic style.

Needing something special to win their quarter-final at Hursley Park, tailender Ed Denham strode to the crease and smashed a last-ball six off his first delivery to emerge as the unlikely batting hero.
