MANAGER Phil Simkin admits Hamworthy United will be taking a step into the unknown when they visit Penryn Athletic in the FA Vase first qualifying round tomorrow.

Simkin's men may have thought they were finished with long journeys after making a 300-mile round trek to St Blazey in the FA Cup last month.

But Hammers have to go even further this weekend, with South West Peninsula League Division One Penryn the far-flung destination on this occasion.

"I don't know a great deal about them because it's difficult to get information for teams that far down," Simkin told the Daily Echo.

"The club went there four or five years ago and they put us out of the Vase, but they seem to have dropped down the levels since then.

"We've got to be hoping to go there and get a positive result," added Simkin.

Inspirational captain Nathan Walker faces a late fitness test but is expected to play, but forward Stuart Cannie is suspended.

Young prospect Marc Claremont and Lee Thomas are battling for Cannie's place alongside top scorer Warren Byerley.

BEN BACK WITH PRIORY

BEN Osborne is set to make his second debut for Christchurch after re-signing for the club.

The forward, who was with Poole Town last season, struggled to nail down a starting place at Hamworthy United following a summer move to the County Ground.

And Priory boss Graham Kemp has moved quickly to bring Osborne back to Hurn Bridge.

Kemp's men host Hartley Wintney tomorrow in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase (3pm), with long-term injury victim Adam Costello (ankle ligaments) the only absentee.

POPPIES HOST CALNE

BOURNEMOUTH Poppies will be keen to stop the rot when they welcome Calne Town to Victoria Park tomorrow (3pm).

The Winton-based side have been heavily beaten in their past three outings, conceding 19 unanswered goals along the way.

But with full-back Joe McGrath back in the squad after returning to Bournemouth University, Kenny Vaughan's men will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways.
