CHERRIES' under-performing players could be set for a rude awakening under new management duo Jimmy Quinn and Jason Tindall, with the assistant boss insisting hard graft is the way forward.

Former Cherries utility man Tindall was unveiled as Quinn's number two at a press conference yesterday, with the pair succeeding Kevin Bond, Rob Newman and Eddie Howe, who were all sacked on Monday.

And the ex-Weymouth manager, who made 195 appearances in his eight years as a player at Dean Court, believes he knows the formula for success.

"I don't think there's too many squads in this division with better players than we've got," Tindall told the Daily Echo.

"But everyone in football knows that hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.

"I think everybody needs to work hard. You only get out what you're prepared to put in.

"If you get these lads here to work hard on and off the ball the results will come because the talent they've got is great.

"I'm a believer that you haven't got to possess any talent or ability to work hard.

"Once you cross that white line you've got to be able to come in the changing room at the end of the game, look in the mirror and be honest with yourself that you've given everything you've got.

"The players that go out there and think they've already made it and don't give their all - they're the type of players that won't be around for very long."

Tindall, 31, was sacked as Weymouth boss in January and he believes that experience will stand him in good stead for the task ahead.

He said: "I learned a hell of a lot and learned from the mistakes I made as a manager and coach and it's important you do make those mistakes so you can learn from them.

"I'm still learning and always striving to become better and, one thing's for sure, I'll work extremely hard."
