POOLE Town have secured two further members of next season’s playing squad, tying down last season’s leading goalscorer Toby Holmes and bringing in former midfielder Charlie Davies.

Holmes grabbed 22 goals from 44 appearances last term as Dolphins eventually steered clear of the drop.

The striker’s efforts were recognised at the end of the campaign, winning the manager’s player of the season.

After rejoining the club for a second spell ahead of the 22/23 season, Holmes has scored 45 goals in 107 appearances for Dolphins.

Former Cherries youngster Davis rejoins Poole for a third spell, having finished last season at divisional rivals Sholing.

Davis lists Gosport Borough, Dorchester Town, Weymouth, Salisbury, and AFC Totton amongst his former employers.

Manager Steve Tully said: "Delighted that Toby’s signed for the season, to get him on board is great.

“I’m going to build a team that will get goals around him.

“Delighted to get Charlie on board, I think he’s got 20 assists over the last two seasons.

“Set piece delivery is excellent, really pleased to get him on board and adds another midfield body.”

After signing for the club, Charlie Davis said: “I’m really excited and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead. I want to be successful, and I think the club have ambition and I want to be a big part of that.”

Holmes shared: "Delighted to get it done early, had conversations with Tully and Burbs over last few weeks and they obviously wanted me to stay, had a bit of time to think about it and it’s the decision I wanted to make for me.”

Poole’s pre-season plans have been altered ahead of the summer, with their home clash with Weymouth on Saturday, August 3, cancelled.

Dolphins are now looking for new opponents to fill the fixture.
