IT IS time to vote for the Daily Echo/Micky Cave AFC Bournemouth player of the season for the 2023/24 campaign.

In a record-breaking season it has been a real team effort from Cherries, but who stood out for you this year?

It could be another tight race as there are a few frontrunners who have impressed this campaign.

Dominic Solanke has made club history by reaching 18 strikes in the league this term, surpassing Josh King for most goals in a Premier League season.

Ryan Christie has been a man reborn in midfield since Andoni Iraola deployed the Scot in a deeper role, with no player having made more than his 40 appearances at the time of writing.

Until fever struck last weekend, young Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi was ever-present in the Premier League for Cherries, becoming a staple of Bournemouth’s defence.

Antoine Semenyo has also enjoyed a fruitful first full campaign at Cherries, contributing eight goals and two assists from the wing.

Those are just a few of the contenders, with 17 players that have reached the threshold of 20 appearances to be eligible.

The Daily Echo/Micky Cave Memorial Trophy is named in honour of the former Cherries midfielder, who died in 1984.

The likes of Eddie Howe, Nathan Ake, Steve Fletcher, Brett Pitman, Marc Pugh, Simon Francis, James Hayter, Steve Cook, Jason Pearce, Harry Arter and Tommy Elphick are all former recipients.

After three goalkeepers won the trophy in a row, midfielder Jefferson Lerma won last year’s vote and is the current incumbent of the award.

Voting is now open and will close at 12pm on Friday, May 10.
