AFC BOURNEMOUTH boss Andoni Iraola was unable to continue his in-person scouting trips of Premier League opposition ahead of his side’s clash with Brighton.

Cherries welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Vitality Stadium on Sunday (2pm), with Iraola tasked with working out a gameplan to best the Seagulls.

Ahead of Cherries’ trip to Wolves in midweek, Iraola was spotted watching Wanderers play Arsenal at Molineux the proceeding weekend.

Throughout the campaign the Basque boss has taken the opportunity to watch upcoming opponents in the flesh in hopes to get a greater understanding of a team’s tactics and approach.

Brighton played the day after Cherries beat Wolves, the Seagulls losing 4-0 at home to title-chasing Manchester City.

But with Cherries’ travelling to Wolverhampton and back the night before, Iraola felt that there were better uses for his time ahead of the Brighton game.

Asked if he was in attendance at the Amex on Thursday night, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I wasn't because it's too far.

“See it's difficult from here because you lose a lot of time (travelling).

“I’ve been sometimes in London, but at the end is three hours there, watch the game, then another three hours back.

“I don't do anything else.

“And in such short time between games, I don't think it's worth it.”

At the time of writing Cherries head into tomorrow’s clash one place above Brighton.

Bournemouth are currently sat 10th, one point above the Seagulls who enjoy a game in hand over Cherries.
