CHERRIES boss Andoni Iraola called upon his side to start taking their chances after settling for a draw with Manchester United.

AFC Bournemouth had twice led at Vitality Stadium, Dominic Solanke and Justin Kluivert goals cancelled out by Bruno Fernandes.

There was contention over Fernandes’ second, Cherries feeling very hard done by after a penalty was awarded for handball against Adam Smith.

The defender was caught unawares after the ball ricocheted off teammate Ryan Christie, giving Smith no time to react.

In the closing stages there was another flashpoint that went against Cherries, Christie bundled over as he entered the penalty area by Willy Kambwala.

Despite match official Tony Harrington awarding a penalty, a VAR check overturned the on-field decision.

Cherries mustered 20 shots during the game, but were only able to find the target on five occasions.

The hosts constantly looked a threat throughout the contest, with numerous efforts narrowly going wide in the first half.

However, they were unable to make their dominance of the shot count in the end.

Asked for his thoughts on the game, Iraola responded: “I think we have to value the point at the end.

“One point against United is always important, but I also think if anyone deserved to win today it was clearly Bournemouth.

“But probably we didn't finish the game or we didn't take our chances, especially in the first half.

“I think we should arrive to half time with a better result.

“United, we've seen know they always find ways to come back to find goals and they don't have to be at their best to get the results.

“And probably we have to learn how to win this kind of games where you are much closer to the three points.”
