CHERRIES’ Premier League status has been mathematically confirmed, with seven games still to play.
Following 18th-placed Luton Town’s 5-1 defeat at Manchester City this afternoon, they, Burnley and Sheffield United all cannot now overhaul Cherries’ points tally of 41, having played more matches than Andoni Iraola’s men.
Cherries, who sit 12th, themselves have seven games to go and are 16 points clear of the Hatters.
They host Manchester United at Vitality Stadium today (5.30pm) and could technically still finish anywhere between fourth and 17th.
It means the club will compete for a third straight season in England’s top flight, having finished 15th last season under Gary O’Neil, following promotion from the Championship.
