ONLY eight clubs in England spent more than Cherries on agent fees over the past year, new figures have revealed.

In the period between February 1, 2023 and February 1, 2024, Cherries shelled out close to £16million to agents and intermediaries for their part in transfer deals and contract renewals.

It places them ninth on the overall Premier League list, dwarfed by the eye-watering £75.1m Chelsea spent.

Manchester City (£60.6m) and Manchester United (£34m) rounded off the top three, as the league’s clubs in total spent £409.5m.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also spent more on agents than Cherries.

Bournemouth Echo:

Unsurprisingly, having not spent all that time as Premier League clubs, newly-promoted trio Luton Town (£2m), Sheffield United (£5.1m) and Burnley (£6.9m) were the three lowest spenders, just below Brentford (£8.1m).

Deals concluded by Cherries in that period included the permanent signings of Romain Faivre, Hamed Traore, Justin Kluivert, Milos Kerkez, Alex Scott, Max Aarons, Tyler Adams and Callan McKenna.

The club also brought Andrei Radu, Luis Sinisterra and Enes Unal in on loan as well as tying key players such as Dominic Solanke, Ryan Christie, Neto, Philip Billing and Marcus Tavernier down to new contracts.

Clubs in the Championship spent £61.3m on agent fees in 23-24, League One totalled £5.1m and League Two £2.4m, while clubs in the National League paid out around £715,000.

In the year 2022-23, Cherries spent little over £5m on agent and intermediary fees, with part of that time coming when they were a Championship club.
