ANDONI Iraola confirmed both Marcus Tavernier and Tyler Adams have suffered injury issues.

Tavernier started this afternoon’s 2-1 defeat at Luton Town, scoring the opening goal of the contest, before limping off shortly afterwards.

The winger is now set to undergo a scan to ascertain the level of damage suffered to his right hamstring.

Tavernier had been impressing at Kenilworth Road, having twice gone close to scoring in the first half, striking the crossbar from a free-kick, before he did find the net in the second period.

“It’s a hamstring injury,” Iraola confirmed to the Daily Echo.

“It is going to be difficult, I hope he plays before the end of the season, but we have to see the MRI and what it tells us.

“I think he had a very good week.

“Today he had good chances in the first half. In the second half he scored and was defensively doing really well.

“But these things happen and probably in the worst moment for him and for us, in this moment of the game. But it is a hamstring injury and it is going to be difficult.”

Meanwhile, Adams did not travel with the squad to Luton.

Having recently made his return from hamstring surgery, Adams played the full 90 minutes of last weekend’s win over Everton, before remaining an unused substitute for Tuesday’s victory against Crystal Palace.

Chris Mepham, who missed the Palace game due to illness, was again not with the group at Kenilworth Road.

Asked if the absences of Mepham and Adams were illness related, Iraola said: “We have been through some illness situations and Tyler woke up two days ago with back spasms and he wasn’t available.

“It is nothing related to the hamstring, but he was not available for the game.”
