JUSTIN Kluivert joked that a clear mind led to his winner for Cherries against Crystal Palace, stating: “I know in the past that if there is not much in my head, the most beautiful things come out.”

Two-time Dutch international Kluivert came off the bench to score the game’s only goal in the 79th minute, Cherries defeating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Vitality Stadium.

A summer signing from AS Roma, Kluivert is up to seven goals in 28 appearances across all competitions this term.

Asked what was going through his mind before coming off the bench, Kluivert told afcbtv: “To be fair not much!

“I know in the past that if there is not much in my head, the most beautiful things come out.

“That’s why I’ve scored – if I’m thinking about too much, that’s when things go wrong.

“It feels wonderful to come in to the game and change it for the team, and the fans. It’s beautiful.”

Kluivert went on to tell BBC Radio Solent how he felt that the strength in depth gave Cherries the ability to changes games.

He continued: “Because we’ve got a great squad, and we’ve got a lot of games.

“So you see we are a squad with a lot of quality, and we can bring in players to change the game.

“We have showed it a lot of times already, and I’m very happy to do that for the team.

“I saw that it had to go our way, the chances that there were.

“We finished one, and I think we could have made more also if we were a bit more calm.

“But we’re happy – 1-0, three points, we’ll take that.”

Cherries boss Andoni Iraola made five changes to the side that started the 2-1 victory over Everton last time out, with Kluivert dropping from the starting XI to the bench.

Asked how he felt about the rotation in the team, Kluivert responded: “Positive – the team spirit is good.

“We know that when someone else is on the pitch, it won’t change a lot, because we know what we need to do.

The other players have a lot a quality. We have a lot of quality on the pitch, and also on the pitch.

“That’s normal, that’s football – we need each other.

“That’s something I would like to do this season, but to be fair when I’m playing and when I’m starting I give it my all.

“I understand if I get subbed off, because 70 minutes is a long time to give your all and we have fresh legs on the bench.

"It’s a tactic, and I don’t mind it.”
