CHERRIES rose up the league table with victory over Crystal Palace last night, with Andoni Iraola’s charges now 11th in the Premier League table.

A 1-0 victory courtesy of Justin Kluivert’s 79th minute strike was enough to take all three points, and whilst the scoreline is the only stat that matters, we have taken a look at some other interesting numbers arising from the game.

28 – Jefferson Lerma became the 28th former Cherry to play against his old club in the Premier League.

The Colombian spent five years on the south coast, making 184 appearances before joining Crystal Palace on a free transfer last summer.

It was Lerma’s first return to Dean Court since leaving, and he was not alone in making a reunion – right-backs Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne were two other former Cherries in the Palace matchday squad.

We've added the full list at the bottom of the article for you to see how many you got.

300 – Speaking of Joel Ward, the Palace captain reached the milestone of 300 Premier League appearances for the Eagles, the first player to do so.

Ward made 25 appearances for Cherries across all competitions during the 2008/09 season, the then-young defender on loan at then-League Two Cherries from neighbours Portsmouth.

Last time out Cherries stalwart Adam Smith made it 200 top-flight games for his club – also a club first – showing that the two veteran right-backs still leading the way for their clubs.

1 – Rather fittingly, that was Cherries’ first 1-0 victory of the season. All 10 of their previous league victories – plus their four cup triumphs – saw Cherries score at least twice.

It certainly hasn’t been boring, boring, Cherries this year!

0 – Andoni Iraola’s charges are well up for playing under the lights, having not lost a midweek encounter in the league this term (P4 W3 D1).

0.11 – A slightly bigger number than the last stat, but that was Crystal Palace’s expected goals (xG) according to fotmob.com on Tuesday night. That represents the Eagles’ lowest xG total of this Premier League season.

250 – Victory over Crystal Palace was a good way for Andoni Iraola to celebrate his 250th game as a head coach.

The Basque boss has led Cherries in 36 games since joining in the summer, recording 15 wins.

His longest spell in charge of a club came with Rayo Vallecano, where he took charge of 136 matches in between August 2020 and June 2023.

Between his spells as Cherries, Rayo, Mirandes, and AEK Larnaca, Iraola has won 102 games.

Bournemouth Echo: 7 – Justin Kluivert plundered his seventh goal of the season in all competitions last night, taking him one shy of last season’s tally for Valencia, when he scored eight in Spain.

That tally represented the Dutchman’s best haul in a season since leaving Ajax in 2018 – Kluivert left his native Netherlands with 11 goals from 32 appearances.

Whilst all eyes have quite rightfully been on talisman Dominic Solanke and his 16 Premier League goals, Kluivert has quietly contributed throughout the campaign.
