ERIN Bloomfield scored four goals as Cherries got their title bid back on track in the Women’s National League Division One South West with a resounding 7-0 win against Portishead Town.

Played on a 3G surface in Clevedon, Steve Cuss’s side eased to victory thanks to Bloomfield and earlier goals from Molly Barron-Clark, Kenni Thompson and Chloe Gilroy.

It marked a welcome return to winning ways, having been held to a frustrating home draw by Keynsham Town at Vitality Stadium last weekend.

Boss Cuss made three changes from that game, with Gilroy, Thompson and Bloomfield handed starts in place of Amber Treweek, Ellie Butler and Lucy Cooper.

Cherries got off to the perfect start, Barron-Clark firing in from distance after three minutes.

Thompson quickly doubled the tally before the dominant Cherries added a third through Gilroy.

Chances kept coming and Bloomfield almost got her first of the afternoon with a header on the stroke of half-time, the effort hitting the crossbar.

Bloomfield did get her goal just before the hour mark to make it 4-0, the first of three in the space of 19 minutes.

And the striker added another in the closing stages.

Cherries remain eight points behind leaders Exeter City in the promotion battle, with two games in hand and a trip to the Grecians still to come.

Cherries: Kosinska, Smith, Bowers, Jones (Venditto, 68), McGuinness (Butler, 63), James (Elkins, 68), Barron-Clark, Hillier, Thompson, Gilroy (Cooper, 63), Bloomfield.
