CHERRIES battled back from two goals behind, only to go on and lose 4-2 against Ipswich Town in the under-21s Professional Development League.

Former Ipswich player Alan Connell saw his side trailing 2-0 at half-time at Portman Road, to a brace from Leon Ayinde.

It could have been worse were it not for some smart saves by Callan McKenna.

Cherries rallied after the break and were level through a Dan O’Connor own goal and Balraj Landa strike.

Dominic Sadi missed a chance to complete the comeback, allowing the Tractor Boys to plough on and take the points, courtesy of goals from Tommy Taylor and Jacob Mazionis, either side of Ashley Clarke going close to an equaliser for the visitors.

Cherries, who stay third in the southern section, head to Turf Moor on Friday to take on Burnley (11am).
