ANDONI Iraola is looking forward to welcoming Jaidon Anthony back to Cherries in the summer, insisting: “He is a very good player to have in the squad.”

Anthony is currently on a season-long loan at Leeds United in the Championship, after a surprise swap deal involving Luis Sinisterra on transfer deadline day in September.

The 24-year-old looked set for a big role under Iraola, featuring in each of the Spaniard’s first four matches in charge of Cherries, starting three, before the club decided to loan him out.

The winger spends most of his time as a substitute with promotion-chasing Leeds. He has made 28 appearances for Daniel Farke’s side, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Four of only six starts have come in the FA Cup.

Asked if he plans to have another look at Anthony in pre-season after his loan deal expires, Iraola insisted: “Yes, I have always said it. Jaidon, I like him as a player and I rate him a lot as a person.

“He was very involved with us in the first game of the season in August.

“I think he is a very good player to have in the squad, because he’s valuable in different positions and is very reliable.

“When you play Jaidon, I think you know he will give the maximum always, because his work-rate is very good.”
