MIDFIELDER Tyler Adams could take another big step towards a first-team return by being part of the matchday squad for tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United (3pm).

The United States captain has featured just once all season for Cherries, having struggled with hamstring issues.

Adams featured for club’s development squad on Tuesday, starting in a 5-0 win over Colchester United’s under-21s at the training ground.

And boss Andoni Iraola says the 25-year-old could be involved for the Premier League clash with the Blades tomorrow, but defensive quartet Marcos Senesi, Lloyd Kelly, Max Aarons and Ryan Fredericks are unavailable.

“Marcos got injured the other day, he is out,” Iraola confirmed.

“He will not even travel with the national team, so obviously he will not be part of the team for these games. He has a strain in his hamstring and will be out.

“The only one we can recover is Tyler Adams, but he is still not ready. He played 30 minutes with the development squad.

“It is good and he doing the process and feeling well. We could put him on the bench, because we have the spaces and maybe it would be a good thing for him, personally.

“But he is continuing the process and still lacks more training, but he is doing well.

“I don’t think we are recovering anyone from the other day.”

Asked what Adams will bring to the group, Iraola added: “I think he has leadership in him. Even in training you perceive, whenever he is losing a drill, he is the first one to complain.

“It is good things for the team. When you have competitive players, it is always good, especially for the manager.

“I think he will add this to the team. But we also want him to play and be ready as soon as possible.

“He is still not there, but I am happy he is progressing well. I think he is close.”
