ANDONI Iraola insists Cherries are not yet safe from relegation this season, despite pulling further clear of the Premier League drop zone.

A 2-0 victory at struggling Burnley on Saturday moved Cherries 11 points clear of the bottom three, with 12 games to play.

But Iraola urged caution to those suggesting Cherries have enough points already to stay up, citing two upcoming fixtures against 18th-placed Luton Town in the next few weeks as key.

Asked if he feels 31 points could be enough to ensure survival, Cherries head coach Iraola said: “I am satisfied with the situation that we have, that we have a gap, which is very good and important.

“But we still need more wins, more points.

“We need to continue adding points because I feel Luton for example who are just below the line, they have very good spirit, they fight in every game and they can make a good run.

“Every team is pushing. We also want to win games and try to add more points, because we need it.”

Cherries are now closer to the top half than they are the relegation zone, currently sitting 13th, seven points behind 10th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers with a game in hand.

Asked if he is looking up the table now more than over their shoulders following victory at Turf Moor, Iraola said: “In the end, our performances will determine where we are looking.

“You play Luton twice in a month, that could be dangerous also because if you lose, they take six points from you. If you win, you can say okay, that’s it.

“So they are important games. But we will continue doing the same things.

“We play Sheffield (United) now, we have to win at home.

“At home we haven’t been as good as we are away.

“Now we play two important games at home and I think we have to focus there before the break we will have.”

The visit of the Blades on Saturday is the first of four successive home games for Cherries.
