ANDONI Iraola described as a “very bad moment” losing Marcos Senesi to injury at Burnley.

Early on at Turf Moor, the centre-back was forced off with a hamstring problem and replaced by Chris Mepham.

Senesi has been a regular figure for Cherries in recent weeks and had earned a recall to the Argentina national squad.

Asked for an update on the 26-year-old, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think it's a clear strain in the hamstring.

“I hope it's not very big. It's a very bad moment for us, collectively because we don't have too many defenders right now.

“But also for him personally, because he has been called again with the national team, with Argentina.

“And I hope it's not big. And I hope he can go there and play with his national team. That is, I know, something very important for him.”

Iraola added: “It's a very good thing that Meps came and he played a good game.”

Cherries went on to win 2-0, thanks to goals from Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo.

For Mepham, it was his first appearance since featuring in the 4-0 defeat by Liverpool in January.

Cherries host Sheffield United on Saturday (3pm).
