ANDONI Iraola refused to be set any lofty targets for the remainder of Cherries’ season, instead insisting the first focus must be on securing the club’s Premier League status.

Cherries look well set for another season in the top flight, currently eight points clear of the relegation zone with 13 games to play.

Their next three matches come against the three clubs currently sitting in the bottom three, starting away at Burnley on Sunday (1pm).

Cherries reached 39 points last season, while their best tally was 46 under Eddie Howe in the 2016-17 campaign.

Asked if targets like that are attainable this term, Iraola said: “We are going to go game by game and at the end the table will put us in our place.

“Obviously the first thing we have to do is to secure the points to be here in the Premier League next season.

“We still don’t have them.

“We don’t know how many points will be needed. But this is what we have to do, the sooner the better.

“In the end, when you don’t get the results, I know that everyone (below) is pushing.

“The sooner we get these three wins let’s say, the better.”
